The Allegheny Highlands BSA Council will host a major regional scouting event, the daylong University of Scouting on Saturday at the State University of New York at Fredonia. Some 400 people are expected to attend from eight scout councils hailing from New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

More than 100 training sessions will be offered throughout the day that include 60 geared toward adult volunteers and 30 merit badge sessions for both male and female youth scouts. There will also be a day camp program geared toward younger Cub Scouts.

A dozen of the merit badge sessions will be taught by SUNY Fredonia professors who are experts in those fields. Adult sessions will focus on the latest hiking & camping gear, leadership development and even share recipes for future troop meetings.

The 2022 University of Scouting program is the first, major scouting to be held post-pandemic. The event’s overwhelming, pre-registration response and community support demonstrates scouting’s continued growth in Western New York. For more information, visit https://www.scoutinguniversity.org
